Playful aesthetic

Tête en l’Air in Paris, France by KOZ Architects

IN FRANCE, WHOSE architectural history is largely based on stone, it has become increasingly common to construct buildings in wood. When KOZ Architectes were tasked with regenerating an old working-class district of northern Paris, they chose to employ pine and larch. The playful result – Tête en l’Air – is inspired by busy streetlife and has reinvigorated the social scene in the district.

Asymmetrically positioned wooden boxes protrude from the facade, giving the exterior a spontaneous character. The boxes also contribute to the unique layouts of the 30 apartments.«
