Skagershuset

“With Skagershuset, we tried to combine industrial construction techniques with genuine carpentry skills.”

“Here at OWC we’re proud to have been nominated for the Swedish Wood Award – it shows that we deliver quality.”

The key was to create a building that both challenges and acknowledges Årsta’s unique heritage, with its Modernist streetscapes and attractive brick blocks set in leafy gardens. Skagershuset fits in with the scale of its surroundings, at a height of 13 metres over four floors, plus an inset penthouse level. On the street side, the long façade is broken up by three vertical recesses that mark out the entrances and draw light into the adjacent kitchens. On the garden facade, these recesses are reinterpreted as inset and offset balconies that lend the building a more small-scale character.
